From 1964 comes this very rare Russian made jewel. It was one of the thinnest watches at the time and was awarded with a diploma and a gold medal on international Fair in Leipzig. The movement is only 2.9mm thick. Vympel was designed in First Russian Watch Manufacture in Moscow in 1961 and only made through 1964.  At that time the name of the factory was changed to Poljot and all future watches had Poljot logo on them, which make original Vympel a rare find. There were only a few thousands of them made in solid gold and only a handful survived till our time. They are considered a cornerstone of any collection of Soviet watches and demand premium. Watch is all original, made in 1964, right before the name of the factory was changed. It's in excellent condition for its age. Case is solid gold, 33.5mm without crown, shows very little wear and all necessary gold related marks are clearly visible. Being solid gold the case, of course, can be polished to a perfection, if a new owner desire. Dial shows minimal wear with a few spots here and there, but nothing major. From the normal distance to the naked eye it appears excellent. Hands are excellent too. Crown is original to the watch. The movement is original with all correct stamps of 1st Factory. It is recently serviced and runs perfectly. Although this is a vintage watch that should belong to a watch box, this particular example is running strong enough to be worn, even for extended periods of time.
