a fine and rare high quality gold 18k quarter repeater attributed to pierre gregson...its a very nice watch in fantastic condition, pristine signed dial with no chips around the winding hole, almost unheard of, original hands, keeping good time and functioning very well with crisp tones on the bells, yes it has two bells, they are slighty different in height which allows each of the two hammers to strike on an individual bell...not on wire gongs...unusual. the case is finely made and is a press fit between the front bezel and the housing...movement is signed, in very good order, winding full length on the fusee chain. fire gilded components, blued screws and a silver regulator dial. polished hammers and strikework under the dial. pierre gregson was originally from england, in 1776 he became a royal watchmaker in paris, in 1786 he was a member of a commission to establish a royal factory, the other members were no less than breguet, berthoud and lepaute so he was in good company and obviously well respected in paris. in 1790 he returned to london and continued to build watches in the french style. no disappointments..its a beautiful watch. 115 grams 53 mm diameter
